ECNP School Participants Oxfrod 2017

ECNP School Oxford 25-30 June 2017

Last June, the ECNP School of Neuropsychopharmacology took place in Oxford.

Guy Goodwin, organiser: "The Oxford school went off under glowering skies this year. As ever it was a terrific experience for all of us who attended it. The contribution of the speakers and the participants themselves was stellar. The poster session on the Monday evening worked very well as an introduction to everyone’s professional lives. There was a very constructive concluding feedback which will help us think through modernisation of our teaching methodology in future years. Finally thanks to Eline Dimmendaal for her brilliant support of all of us."

ECNP Network Training

Training Workshop for Young Scientists “How to Make Preclinical Research Robust”

On 3-5 July, a three-day training workshop was organised by the Preclinical Data Forum Network in Heidelberg, Germany, in order to enhance awareness and to help junior scientists to further develop their experimental skills, with prime focus on experimental design to generate high quality, robust, reproducible and relevant data.

Sixteen young scientists from various European countries and the USA, mostly at postdoctoral level, attended the workshop. ECNP provided eight travel awards.

The workshop participants were highly motivated, engaged and interested to further improve their research practice, making this a very interactive course with many discussions that informally continued with the lecturers during coffee breaks and meals.

The feedback provided by the students at the end of the workshop was very positive. All participants indicated that participation in this workshop was very likely (60% responses) or likely (40%) to affect their own future research practices.

Given the positive feeling amongst the meeting participants, the Network feels encouraged to continue these educational activities in the future. We hope that the participants of the workshop will act as future ambassadors for robust preclinical research.
